Log Cabin Mitts

Pic borrowed from Rav pattern page.
Have you seen the Log Cabin Mitts from Karen Templer of Fringe Association? There's a log-a-long for these. (We seem to have a lot of those on our radar lately.) If you've never tried to log cabin, this is a great place to begin. No intarsia or stranded colorwork. You knit a rectangle, pick up some stitches along one side, knit another rectangle, and repeat.

Perfect for all of those leftover bits of worsted weight yarn in your stash. Or pop in a choose your favorite shade of Watershed or Cumbria Worsted or Highland or something lovely and hand-dyed...there are so many options in the shop, but I feel like you should treat yourself to something special.

Eye Candy

The Léttlopi has arrived! The colors are trickling into the shop, but we already have an awesome little sample to share. The Pasture and Woods Mitts are so sweet and fun to knit using three colors of Lopi. There's even a matching hat! (The patterns are $4 each on Ravelry.) Photos of the gorgeous yarn to come as soon as the whole lot of it arrives.

Yarn Crawl KAL and CAL

The Rose City Yarn Crawl Mystery Knit-a-long and Crochet-a-long begin today! The create-a-long part is a fun way to stay motivated to get your project done by the yarn crawl weekend of March 1-4. The mystery part is fun, because you don't know what the finished product will look like until you're done! The first clue has been released today, and the remaining 3 will be released each Wednesday.
If you follow the links, you can purchase your pattern through Ravelry. You can also take a peek at previous years' mystery patterns, as well as all of the shop patterns from yarn crawls past. Each pattern will require two skeins of fingering weight yarn, totaling at least 700 yards. We have sooo many beautiful and inspiring options to choose from...solids, semi-solids, hand-dyed, speckled, variegated...the sock wall is your oyster.

We would love to see you at Open Knit and Crochet tonight from 6-9PM at the shop. We can get you all set up with your yarns, and we can all get started together. Come and mystery-a-long with us!

P.S. Check out the swag page for awesome Yarn Crawl goodies and a chance to glimpse one of our own Close Knitters modeling a rad tote bag.

Knit Your Heart's Desire

Adrienne, our amazing knitting teacher, wants to help you level up your knitting. When you search through Ravelry or flip through magazines and pattern books, do you find yourself discouraged because you can't decipher the instructions or because you run across a technique you don't understand? Colorwork, short rows, cables, textures, picking up stitches, mattress stitch...what has you flummoxed? Whatever it is, we want to help. Adrienne is offering a Tuesday morning class in February that will help you conquer those knitting hurdles.

The Pick Your Project class, beginning February 13, is designed to meet your needs and help you move forward in your knitting, no matter where you are starting out. If you aren't sure where to begin, Adrienne will help you choose an appropriate project of your dreams. Call the shop or pop in to sign up and talk with someone about choosing a project. Knit your heart's true desire!

Sock Blockers and Table Swifts

Check out these pretty sock blockers! These are all hand-made in Montana. We have them in a few sizes to accommodate your sock blocking needs.
These cute little bags contain some pretty table-top yarn swifts. They should look something like this one, but we are happy to take them out for a set up in the shop if you're interested.

Eye Candy

These gorgeous sock yarns from Spun Right Round caught my eye when I was last in the shop: Sugar Pop Fizz above and The Water's Fine below. Photos don't really do these justice. The blues are so vibrant, and the unusual patches of color are so cool.
